Friends Share Community Space exists to create an inclusive, welcoming, and dynamic gathering place where people can come together to build friendships, share experiences, and celebrate creativity. We believe that fostering a strong sense of belonging is essential for individual well-being and the health of our community as a whole.

By offering a variety of free events and activities, we aim to enrich the social, cultural, and artistic fabric of our neighborhood while providing a safe and welcoming space where everyone feels valued and engaged. Our primary goal is to empower individuals from all backgrounds to participate in meaningful social and cultural experiences without financial barriers.

Located in East Portland, a diverse and rapidly growing area, we recognize the urgent need for safe, accessible, and community-driven spaces that serve as an alternative to commercial establishments. As an area historically underserved in public gathering places and community resources, East Portland faces unique challenges, including limited transit access and a lack of centralized cultural hubs. Our goal is to fill this gap by offering a “neighborhood living room”—a safe, welcoming space where people can connect, relax, and engage with their neighbors in an authentic and meaningful way.

YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD LIVING ROOM

MISSION

Friends Share Community Space is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and friendships through food, music, coffee, wine, art, and workshops. As a volunteer-run not-for-profit organization, we provide a welcoming and inclusive “third place” and consider ourselves a neighborhood living room—a comfortable, inviting space where everyone feels at home. Through free events and reinvestment in our space and community, we strive to cultivate a vibrant and supportive environment that nurtures belonging, well-being, creativity, and joy.

VISION

We envision a thriving, connected community where people from all backgrounds can gather, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. Through our commitment to placemaking and developing social capital, Friends Share Community Space seeks to be a model for grassroots community engagement, where creativity, inclusivity, and collaboration drive positive change. We aim to normalize active community spaces that are people-driven rather than profit-driven.
